Our Philosophy A child’s early years are a particularly important period of time in his or her development. This is the time when your child takes his or her first steps to learn social skills, develop concepts, form values and attitudes that will last throughout their lives. We recognize each child as a unique individual with his or her own special capabilities. First Step Daycare’s environment is one that is warm, providing loving care and inviting a learning atmosphere that allows children to develop at their own pace. We believe that children need to have a positive self-image. We foster that image, along with their development of growth in the area of intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills, through a variety of group activities, individual play and quiet periods. We give each child as much personal attention as possible while at the same time promoting a feeling of group belonging. The curriculum is designed to stimulate learning through play activities. The children actively participate in-group exploration, extending and directing experiences so that each child’s knowledge is stretched and deepened.
