North Creek Montessori

Lions Gate Montessori is a micro-school serving approximately 120 Primary (pre-school and kindergarten), and elementary students in downtown Vancouver.

In 2002, a second location, North Creek Montessori, was added to meet the needs of our growing community with another primary class as well as an elementary program.

Our goal is to ensure that all students are nurtured emotionally, academically, physically and spiritually by fostering their natural love of learning. We view education not merely as the passing on of knowledge, but as a joyful lifelong experience facilitating our students’ development as whole, unique individuals who respect and value themselves as well as others.

The school year runs from September through June. Students attend school five days a week with the exception of holidays, Teachers’ Professional Development Days, Parent/Teacher Conference Days as well as Winter and End-of-Year Celebrations.

Primary Program:

Our Primary program serves children ages 30 months to kindergarten.  This multi-age grouping is essential for supporting the social-emotional development of young children. The emphasis on peer-to-peer interactions provides for our students, the exposure to a variety of social roles. As a result, children who finish their three-year cycle in the Primary program will have the opportunity to be apprentices, partners, and mentors to their peers.
