Vancouver Start Smart Preschool

Vancouver Start Smart Preschool is a unique Fine Arts preschool program for 3 to 5 year old children.  We are located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Our staff are fully qualified and licensed Early Childhood Educators. We facilitate activities which allow your children to follow their interests and discover new talents. This style of teaching seeks to expand on aspects of the Reggio Emilia Approach.

Each educator brings experience and expertise in specific areas of the Arts. Through music, movement, dance, drama and the visual arts, we nurture the creative, emotional, and intellectual development of each child.

Vancouver Start Smart Preschool is located in the facilities of Sir Richard McBride Elementary School Annex–off East 33rd Avenue at Grays Park.

We are now accepting Applications for the coming  2022-23 preschool year.  We also have an Application Waitlist for 2023, 2024.  We also have limited placement availability for a January 2022 intake.

Preschool Program:

The Start Smart program is based on Intentional Play — where a child’s natural, interest-based play is directed by a skilled teacher towards a holistic experience during which that child’s specific learning needs are met.

Intentional play occurs when play itself become the learning experience. Teachable moments are still “play” from the child’s point of view, but they are more than play as a whole.

The Start Smart program blends Fine Arts with Intentional Play. Through the fine arts program that includes specialized dance and movement, music, drama  and visual arts instruction, we encourage and nurture your child’s intellectual, emotional, and creative development through dialogue, and problem solving.

Start Smart’s Intentional Play approach promotes a child’s self-confidence and self-esteem, and leaves them fully prepared to enter Kindergarten.
